Department for Planning and Infrastructure

The Department for Planning and Infrastructure is Western Australia's lead agency for marine safety.

The Department is responsible for the safe navigation and safe use of State waters, protecting the marine environment and providing for an effective response to marine emergencies.

Through the provision of expert marine advice, monitoring compliance of regulations and standards and education and training, the Department promotes the safety of hundreds of thousands of Western Australians who work and enjoy the State's 12,500 kilometre coastline and waterways.

Fremantle Ports
Fremantle Ports, a WA Government-owned organisation, is the strategic port manager for the Port of Fremantle, the principal general cargo port for Western Australia, which incorporates the Inner Harbour at Fremantle and the Outer Harbour at Kwinana.

As well as facilitating trade through the port, Fremantle Ports is responsible for providing and maintaining port-related emergency response capabilities, port control services, shipping channels, navigation aids, cargo wharves, road and rail infrastructure within the port area, and moles and seawalls.
