Alliance Technical Director, Oil Spill Response Limited

David joined Southampton in 1981 following a career at sea with BP tankers where he served as an engineer officer.

After five years in the base he transferred to Sullom Voe terminal, as pollution officer where he was responsible for the maintenance and operation of the response stockpile and leading the response to terminal based incidents. After two years he returned to the Oil Spill Service Centre initially as Engineer officer and then more latterly as Operations Manager. In 1992 he was posted to East Asia Response Limited to establish the centre in Singapore following which he returned to Southampton in 1994. He is currently the Technical Director for the OSRL-EARL Global Alliance with responsibility for the technical response preparedness of the Alliance.

David has been involved in a whole range of spills during his time with OSRL including the following major incidents:

Haven Mediterranean, Nagasaki Spirit, Evoikas, Natuna sea, Exxon Valdez, Patmos, Sea Empress, Katina P, Toledo
